  • Mortgage bills win House vote

    The Gazette reports that the house has given final approval to a package of mortgage industry regulation bills. House Bill 1322 regulates the professional behavior of mortgage brokers and other parties in a real estate transaction. Senate Bill 85 allows the Division of Real Estate to revoke registration from brokers should it be considered necessary so they cannot practice elsewhere. Senate Bill 203 requires state licensure of mortgage brokers. And finally, Senate Bill 216 requires mortgage brokers to act in good faith and fair dealing.

  • Federal Reserve Leaves Key Rate Unchanged

    Realtor.org reports the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged during their last meeting. Some investors have wanted the rates to be lowered, but economists believe that the Fed will keep rates where they are now for the rest of the year. The rates have remained unchanged since June 2006. The Fed renewed its warning that underlying inflation remains elevated.
